TIMES STAFF REPORT • APRIL 2, 2010

St. Cloud State University has been selected as one of 10 U.S. institutions to participate in a pilot project seeking academic partnerships in India.

The Institute of International Education picked St. Cloud State for its International Academic Partnership Program. It is paid for by the U.S. Department of Education and is one of the first initiatives of the IIE and its Center for International Partnerships in Higher Education.

The nine other institutions, selected from a pool of more than 75, are: California State University-San Bernardino; College of William and Mary; Florida Atlantic University; Oakland Community College; Ohio Wesleyan University; Spelman College; University of Tulsa; University of South Carolina; and Winston Salem State University.

St. Cloud State representatives will train for a study tour to India in the fall. The purpose of the tour will be to meet with potential Indian partner campuses.

The university has a well-established relationship with India, which had 118 students enrolled at St. Cloud State this fall.

That group ranked third among fall international student enrollment at St. Cloud State, behind Nepal (293)
