ASSISTANT SECRETARY THELMA MELENDEZ TO KEYNOTE NEW JERSEY PRINCIPALS AND SUPERVISORS ASSOCIATION’S 2010 LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE AND ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Thelma Melendez, assistant secretary of the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education, will discuss reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act at the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association’s 2010 Legislative Conference and Annual Membership Meeting. The keynote address will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, at the Foundation for Education Administration Conference Center in Monroe Township, N.J.
The New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association is a professional association dedicated to the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning in New Jersey. Its membership includes principals, vice principals, supervisors, directors, assistant superintendents, superintendents and chief school administrators.

U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter will deliver the keynote address to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges 2010 Academic Resource Conference at 5:30 p.m. PT, Wednesday, April 21. The Conference is being held at the Westin Long Beach, 333 East Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, Calif.
Kanter will discuss the administration's higher education agenda as well as sustainability, accountability, and transparency in higher education.
