State bestows awards on 66 area schools

Sixty-six schools in King and Snohomish counties have received state awards for achievement this year.

Sixty-six schools in King and Snohomish counties have received state awards for achievement this year.
The state Board of Education and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction recently announced the winners, which total 174 schools statewide.
The schools were chosen based on their overall test scores, improvement in test scores, and the scores of students from low-income families.
A school's record compared with schools having similar student demographics also was taken into account.
Schools in King and Snohomish counties recognized for overall excellence are:
Newport High, Bellevue High, Sherwood Forest Elementary, Enatai Elementary, Clyde Hill Elementary, and
