19 Sacramento-area school districts make state's fiscal early warning list

Every one of Sacramento County's major school districts and many in Placer and El Dorado counties are on shaky ground financially, say state officials.

Nineteen local school districts have made the state's fiscal early warning list – up from nine last year.

In the 2006-07 school year, only 22 school districts throughout the state made the list. This year, state education officials said the list has grown to 126 districts.

Sacramento County's biggest districts – Elk Grove Unified, Sacramento City Unified, San Juan Unified, Twin Rivers Unified and Folsom Cordova Unified – are each making a repeat

Nineteen area school districts are on the state's fiscal early warning list. The districts are unable to meet their financial obligations for three projected budget years. Two of those districts have a "negative" rating. They can't meet their budgets this year or next, and are under the control of their county boards of education.

Dry Creek Joint Elementary
Loomis Union Elementary

Placer Union High
Rocklin Unified
Colfax Elem. (negative rating)
