Tuesday, June 7 is California's primary election, a crucial checkpoint for anyone who wants to make it to the November ballot.
In California, the top two vote-getters in the primaries regardless of political affiliation advance to the November Election, and offices up for grabs this year are on the state, federal and local levels.
This year has many races of interest, including who will fill the rest of the U.S. Senate term that former California Secretary of State Alex Padilla — he is running for both the partial and full-term —is temporarily filling. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who soundly beat back efforts in 2021 to remove him from office, is also rerunning for governor.
