Pins Of The Week
I’m fairly active on Pinterest and, in fact, have curated 22,000 resources there that I haven’t shared on this blog. I thought readers might find it useful if I began sharing a handful of my most recent “pins” each week (I’m not sure if you can see them through an RSS Reader – you might have to click through to the original post). I Used Quizizz’s “Live Whiteboard” Feature For The First Time Today & Liked It A Lot
As regular readers know, I’m a huge fan of Quizizz . I’ve written a lot about it . It’s so easy to use, so fun for students, has so many games, and has so many features. But I hadn’t tried using its relatively new Live Whiteboard feature until today, and discovered that it can be VERY useful. I’m teaching about quotation marks as part of students writing an Autobiographical Incident Essay. After

“Let’s Take a Holistic Approach to Judging Schools”
Let’s Take a Holistic Approach to Judging Schools is the headline of my latest Education Week column. Parents wouldn’t judge their kids based on a single factor. So, says Ron Berger of EL Education, why must schools use a lone test score? Here are some excerpts:

Our state-appointed “Fact-Finder,” a neutral party agreed to by our union and our district, the Sacramento City Unified District, issued his report today. It was the district who declared an impasse in negotiations and asked for mediation, followed by fact finding (this is the California process). He agreed with the union positions on the vast majority of issues. The union accepted the findings .

“You Write” Is The First Of Many Artificial-Intelligence Writing Tools That Will Be A Challenge Or Opportunity For Teachers
Over the past few years, more than a few tools have come online that basically solve math problems, including showing the work that was needed to come to the solution.
