New Progressive Education Podcast Gets to the Heart of Philadelphia's Opt-Out Movement | The Progressive

New Progressive Education Podcast Gets to the Heart of Philadelphia's Opt-Out Movement | The Progressive:
Education Podcast Gets to the Heart of Philadelphia's Opt-Out Movement
We're excited to introduce a new podcast by Progressive Education Fellow Jennifer Berkshire and Aaron French.
Have you noticed that the debate over the future of our public schools either seems to go down like a screaming match OR like an echo chamber? We have, which is why we've launched a podcast series that aims to go in, well, a different direction. Our podcast brings you voices and perspectives missing from the debate over the future of public schools.
In Have You Heard's first episode “These Tests Will Go,” The Opt-Out Movement in Urban Philadelphia we head to Philadelphia to talk to African American parents who are opting their kids out of standardized tests. It's a bit different than you might think.
Listen in as they share their perspectives about a movement that’s been characterized as wealthy, white and suburban.
Jennifer Berkshire is the creator and editor of the popular blog EduShyster.com, where she chronicles the end of public education with a wry eye, and is also the Northeast Regional Progressive Education FellowAaron French is the creator and former host of EDUCATION ON TAP, a podcast produced by Teach For America.
