CDF’s new report The State of America's Children 2014 finds child poverty has reached record levels and children of color are disproportionately poor. This is a comprehensive compilation and analysis of the most recent and reliable national and state-by-state data on population, poverty, family structure, family income, health, nutrition, early childhood development, education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and gun violence. FULL REPORT FOREWORD OVERVIEW 50 YEAR SNAPSHOT EACH DAY IN AMERICA 2019 The year children of color will be the majority. CHILD POPULATION 5.3M The number of children lifted out of poverty in 2012 by the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. CHILD POVERTY 17x The average wealth of White households in 2011 ($110,500) versus Black households ($6,314). FAMILY STRUCTURE/INCOME 2.5 The number of full-time minimum wage jobs a person would have to work to afford a two bedroom unit.
