FROM “ELF ON THE SHELF” TO “THE EYE OF DOOM IN THE CLASSROOM” | Teachers Fight Back

FROM “ELF ON THE SHELF” TO “THE EYE OF DOOM IN THE CLASSROOM” | Teachers Fight Back:

FROM “ELF ON THE SHELF” TO “THE EYE OF DOOM IN THE CLASSROOM”

It’s time to move ‘The Elf on the Shelf ” concept to the classroom. “The Elf on the Shelf” concept is the wildly popular home method of getting kids to behave during the days leading up to Christmas. The child is told that Santa sends elves to watch kids and report good or bad behavior. A toy elf is set at a different location each day, and “watches” the child’s behavior during the day. If a child is misbehaving, the parent simply reminds the child that the elf is watching and Christmas gifts could be in jeopardy if the behavior doesn’t improve. The parent could point out moments of good behavior and mention how that might result in more gifts, etc.
What a great idea for classroom discipline!  This could be used all year in the classroom. Instead of an elf, there could be a fake video camera that the teacher places in various locations in the classroom. The camera would be out of reach of the children so they couldn’t see that it was a fake. The camera could be called, “The ogre of doom, in the classroom”. The camera could be dressed up as an ogre. If a child was misbehaving, the teacher could point to the ogre and remind them that the ogre is watching. The teacher would secretly report to the office any student who failed to improve their behavior. At the end of the school day, an office member, dressed as an ogre, (I would suggest the assistant principal accept the role), comes to the classroom and
