Sacramento City Unified Superintendent Jonathan Raymond will resign his post and leave the city district at the end of December, according to several area education leaders who have been briefed on his departure.
Raymond, hired in 2009, could not be reached immediately for comment.
Jeff Cuneo, president of the Sacramento City Unified School District board, confirmed in a telephone interview that Raymond will publicly announce his departure Thursday. A press conference is planned for 10:30 a.m.
Raymond spent much of his day sharing his decision with educators, board members and community leaders.
He told them he had committed to four years with the district and planned to evaluate his tenure after that time. Raymond reached the four-year milestone in July of this year. He and his family
