Breaking silence, former North Atlanta High official urges APS voters to change a flawed system

A former North Atlanta High administrator who was removed in what has become known as Bloody Friday urges parents to pay attention to this November election and to who leads the troubled system.
The blitzkrieg removal last year of key administrators at North Atlanta High School, the parent and student outrage, the insufficient explanationsoffered by the superintendent and the on-off resignation of the new principathis year speak to serious issues within the Atlanta Public Schools.
Will this upcoming school board election fix them?
One of the North Atlanta administrators reshuffled on “Bloody Friday” hopes so.
Breaking her silence, Laura Ricca Brazil, former academy leader for North Atlanta High’s Global Broadcasting and Journalism, shares her view of what happened at North Atlanta High and why it represents inherent flaws in APS that impact all schools.
Brazil’s comments coupled with those of the new principal of North Atlanta High in his resignation letter suggest a system in which leaders are out of touch with the schoolhouses, prey to acting without facts and unresponsive to educators in the field.
