Dallas ISD trustees will today consider taking disciplinary action against Superintendent Mike Miles, who was found in an investigation to have violated district policy and his contract. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at district headquarters.
A majority of trustees are leaning toward three disciplinary actions, sources say. One option would be a reprimand. A second would be to put Miles on a growth plan. A third option would be forfeiture of a clause in Miles’ contract that allows for a one-year extension if he receives a performance evaluation of “proficient.”
It doesn’t look like there’s enough support on the board for termination. However, it’s very likely that a trustee will make a motion to fire Miles at the start of the meeting. Notice, on the agenda that a vote is scheduled at the start of the meeting to “consider and take possible action regarding the employment contract with the Superintendent of Schools including disciplinary sanctions…” Trustee Carla Ranger has taken to her blog and indicated that she wants Miles fired.
