The Educated Reporter: EWA Webinar: Make the Most of Your Campus Visits

The Educated Reporter: EWA Webinar: Make the Most of Your Campus Visits:

EWA Webinar: Make the Most of Your Campus Visits

For education reporters, visiting schools is a chance to observe students, teachers, and administrators carrying out the business of learning. Unfortunately, the time available for these visits is often limited, which makes the occasions when you can get on campus all the more valuable.

On Wednesday, EWA will host a webinar to introduce the latest in our series of Reporters' Guides, focusing on how to make the most of classroom observations. We'll hear from Sarah Carr of the New Orleans Times-Picayune (and author Hope Against Hope, an exceptional new book about the rebirth of New Orleans' public schools ); and the Philadelphia Inquirer's Kristen Graham, part of the paper's Pulitzer-winning team for a deep look at campus violence and safety issues. You'll come away with tips, new story ideas, and a better understanding of what to watch for once you get inside the classroom.

The one-hour webinar will be held at 2 p.m. Eastern time. (You can register here.) In the meantime, check out the new Story Starters resource for more on Campus Climate & Safety. And if you're deep in the throws ofsequestration, EdMedia Commons is ready to help you wade through the federal red tape.
