Named one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 young leaders and a global One Young World Ambassador, Jaxson is a second year student at Western University double-majoring in Global Development at Huron University College and Business Administration through the Richard Ivey School of Business. Jaxson is an established social activist, and has spoken before audiences of over 5000 youth on positive change-making. In high school, he founded the Student Wellness Committee, running multiple awareness campaigns for youth mental health issues, fundraising over $10,000 for charity as vice-president of the Student Activity Council, and advocating for equity and anti-homophobia as president of the Gay-Straight Alliance. Formerly a student trustee of the Peel District School Board, Jaxson also served as CEO of the Ontario Student Trustees’ Association, representing 2 million students across Ontario. He spearheaded the re-branding of OSTA-AECO’s website as well as the organization’s incorporation process, stood behind the Minister of Education during the voicing of the Bill 13 amendments, and has authored policies for provincial unity in student leadership. He has regularly advised the Ontario Ministry of Education, represented Ontario’s students on 21st century learning and technology, and led the creation of the provincial Charter of Rights for Mental Health and Well-being for Children and Youth. He now advises AstraZeneca Canada’s Young Health Program, reaching over 50,000 youth and advocating for youth mental health nation-wide. Combining his various experiences in student leadership, Jaxson co-founded the Student Voice Initiative, a collaborative mentorship network of Canada’s top young change-makers, and a national movement to give students a voice in their education.
