“Richie Imperial Porter, Marty.”
“Comin’ right up, Klonsky.”
“Damn. Look who decided to drop by,” said Tony as I saddled up to the bar.
“Why do we say saddled up when we sit at a bar,” I asked? “We don’t say that we saddled up to a table.”
“Why are roads closed, but bridges are out,” asked Tony?
“It’s not like my union president demanded to saddle up to the table for pension negotiations.”
“That’s okay,” said Tony. “I try and stay away from tables anyway.”
“I kind of noticed,” I said. “Bars are definitely your oeuvre .”
“That kind of reminds me something my cousin Francois always says.”
“C’mon Tony. You don’t have a cousin named Francois.”
“No. I do. He’s from Baton Rouge.”
“Baton Rouge?”
“Louisiana.”
“I know where Baton Rouge is.”

Executive Board Candidates Tammy Vinson and Brian Hallberg and CORE Co-chair Al Ramirez (not pictured) deliver the nominating petitions.
Any doubt that the leadership of the CTU has member support that is deep and wide was washed away today as 5,000 signatures were filed for the upcoming union election.  The names of President Karen Lewis and others of those who represent the Caucus of Rank-and-File Educators (CORE) received  five times the signatures that were required. The nominating petitions came from schools in every part of the city.
