“The Drum Major Instinct”: The MLK Jr. Speech The Media Don’t Mention

We all know about the March on Washington. We all know about Dr. King’s assassination. But most of us don’t know anything about what happened in Martin Luther King Jr.’s life in between those two events.
Why is that? Because the persons that dictate what our media emphasize would rather we didn’t know, for instance, that Dr. King was a staunch backer of unions, or a staunch foe of the Vietnam War. These persons want to claim Dr. King as a centrist, mainstream, neutered hero — their hero — and they can’t do that if everyone knew how progressive he was in reality.
His February 4, 1968 sermon, “The Drum Major Instinct”, done two months before his murder, shows both the far-ranging reach of his intellect and the deepness of his progressive nature. Read it here, and listen to it here.
