SACRAMENTO – The Sacramento Speakers Series brings Michelle Rhee to the stage on Tuesday, January 29th when she speaks at the Community Center Theater. Rhee, an education reform advocate as well as Founder and CEO of StudentsFirst, will be an appearance not to be missed as her work often provokes many differing thoughts and opinions of educators across the nation.
While Michelle Rhee is most known for her work as the former chancellor of the Washington D.C. Public-School System, Sacramento locals also recognize her as the wife of Mayor Kevin Johnson. As chancellor she brought the worst performing school district in the country to double digit growth in state reading and math scores. She also oversaw a rise in graduation rates and the first increase in
enrollment in over forty years.
