Bob Seger - Against The Wind

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band- Against The Wind - Lyrics - Original Version

"Against The Wind" Lyrics ~

It seems like yesterday
but it was long ago
Janey was lovely she was
the queen of my nights
There in the darkness
with the radio playing low

And the secrets that we shared
the mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Til there was nothing left to burn
and nothing left to prove

And I remember what she said to me
how she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin'
against the wind

The years rolled slowly past
and I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers
I thought were my friends
I found myself further and
further from my home

And I guess I lost my way
there were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying
or even how much I owed

Moving eight miles a minute
for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
searching for shelter again and again

Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter
against the wind

(instrumental)

Well those drifter's
days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in
what to leave out

Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
I'm older now but still
runnin' against the wind

Well I'm older now and still runnin'
Against the wind
Against the wind
Against the wind

(against the wind)
Still runnin'
(against the wind)
I'm still runnin'
(against the wind)
I'm still runnin'
(against the wind)
I'm still runnin' against the wind

(against the wind)
Still runnin'
(against the wind)
Runnin' against the wind
Runnin' against the wind
(against the wind)

See the young man run
(against the wind)
Watch the young man run
(against the wind)
Watch the young man runnin'
(against the wind)
He'll be runnin' against the wind

(against the wind)
Let the cowboys ride
(against the wind)
Let the cowboys ride
They'll be ridin' against the wind
(against the wind)

(repeat to fade)

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (Studio Version) *FULL*

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (outtake version)

Lyrics:
If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I can't change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I can't change.
But please don't take it badly,
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
Cause I'm as free as a bird now,
And this bird you'll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I can't change.
Lord help me, I can't change.

Embattled D.C. School District Has A New Vibe

A year and a half after Washington, D.C., and its hard-charging school chancellor Michelle Rhee
parted ways, there are troubling questions about the reforms and policies she left in place. As
NPR's Claudio Sanchez reports, new chancellor Kaya Henderson is trying to build the trust and
goodwill she'll need to go forward with her own plans.

SCOTT SIMON, HOST:
This is WEEKEND EDITION from NPR News. I'm Scott Simon. A year and a half after Washington,
D.C. and its hard-charging school chancellor Michelle Rhee parted ways, the policies that earned
her national attention as a tough visionary reformer are under scrutiny. The teachers' union wants
to revoke a performance evaluation policy that had been presented as a national model. A
cheating scandal has cast doubt on D.C.'s impressive gains in test scores. And as NPR's Claudio
Sanchez reports, the new chancellor, Kaya Henderson, is trying to build the trust and goodwill she'll
need to go forward with her own plans.

Seattle Schools Community Forum: Shaping and Controlling the Narrative

Seattle Schools Community Forum: Shaping and Controlling the Narrative: Shaping and Controlling the NarrativebyMelissa WestbrookI've been pondering what it means to try to bring forth information and encourage debate. In terms of doing that in our country, it doesn't take long to look around and realize how polarized discussion and debate have become. It gets personal, it gets snarky and it becomes more of a "so top that" situation than how are we working towards solutions. I readily will admit to ... more »
