Hi, all, welcome back to school.  Was watching an old favorite of mine, François Truffaut’s Small Change, and was reminded at the end of a sometimes joyous, sometimes trying summer with my son, of what I consider childhood’s essential truths. They are expressed here so eloquently by Jean-François Stévenin, an instituteur(teacher) in Theirs, France, as he explains to a group of his students what will likely happen to one of their classmates, Julien, who has been removed from his home because of his mother’s abuse.
