Teaching by DVD isn't real school reform

In our hearts, we want to give education reform efforts a chance.
But we are not buying the idea that "reform" is taking $1,039,500 out of public education to provide vouchers for 165 children to attend New Living Word School in Ruston, where they will attend school in a church and gym attic and be taught by DVDs.
We're also concerned about the use of taxpayer dollars to construct facilities on a church campus.
New Living Word was preliminarily approved by the state to accept 315 students and received 409 applications, the second highest number of applicants of any participating nonpublic school in the state.
But after a site visit, the Department of Education reduced, by half, the
