Daily Kos: A day of musical memory

Daily Kos: A day of musical memory:

A day of musical memory

because on this day we lost two significant singer/songwriters.
in 1976 Phil Ochs at age 35
in 1997 Laura Nyro at age 49
Let me start with Nyro.  Her album Eli and the Thirteenth Confession was released in 1968, after she had performed a number of songs that appeared on itat the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.  Several of the songs from it became big hits, but not for her, rather for the Fifth Dimension.  Here she is at that festival, performing "Poverty Train"
Popout
Lots more to come.
