As I hear it, we should all be happy Gov. Walker provided the tough love and “tools” to deal with the cost of education and bring about a balanced budget. Ah, but the cuts aren’t over, the shortfalls haven’t ended, and the austerity measures now will look gentle by comparison.

Remember, we’ve been cutting education and services to the bone for at least ten years, and the tightwad whiners haven’t noticed a thing. Let's face it, they’ll never ever be satisfied. Rest assured, they’ll be the first ones to whine, “private schools don’t want to meet or listen to us.” They're accountable to the bottom line, not us.

But if we’re so worried about our kids future, why are we cutting their education off at the knees? Is it just so they won’t have to pay higher taxes as adults. Sounds like a little tightwad parental projection. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities broke down the numbers:

Michigan Bill To Privatize Public School Teaching Sparks Concerns

Michigan state Republicans said this week they are preparing a package of bills to privatize public school teaching -- eliciting concerns about working conditions and trading academic quality for cost effectiveness.

The legislation prepared by state Republican Sen. Phil Pavlov, who chairs the state Senate's education committee, would allow private, for-profit companies to compete for teaching jobs in public schools and would limit the power of teachers unions in seeking compensation packages.

But few specifics are known about the bill package, which has yet to be officially introduced. And Pavlov isn't divulging much more -- for now.

"I don't mean to be vague about this," Pavlov told The Huffington Post. "I can tell you everything on Wednesday."

COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Ohio Parole Board on Friday recommended that the governor not pardon a woman who was jailed for using her father's address to enroll her children in a neighboring school district.

Kelley Williams-Bolar, of Akron, served nine days in jail earlier this year for falsifying information on records that she used to send her daughters to a school outside the city. She said her conviction for felony records tampering threatens her efforts to earn her teacher's license.

The board said Williams-Bolar could have solved her schooling situation legitimately and was dishonest before and after her conviction.
