AG Pam Bondi’s Rewrite of Amendment 7 Still Ambiguous and Misleading

As directed by Judge Terry Lewis’ ruling last week, AG Pam Bondi rewrote the controversial Amendment 7 which would effectively repeal the Blaine Amendment which bands funding of religious institutions with taxpayer money. Lewis agreed with the plaintiffs in the case and found the measure to be ambiguous and misleading. Bondi did nothing to change that. Her rewrite reads as follows:
RELIGIUOS FREEDOM _ Proposing an amendment to the State Constitution providing the no individual or entity may be denied, on the basis of religious identity or belief, governmental  benefits, funding or other support, except as required by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, and deleting the prohibition against using revenues from the public treasury
