CHAIN GANG ELEMENTARY | chaingangelementary.com

The book | chaingangelementary.com:

Good afternoon,

I think this book will be of interest to you and your readers, since it’s written for parents and educators. You’ll be especially interested in this excerpt, on standardized testing: http://chaingangelementary.com/?p=384.

Chain Gang Elementary is a tale of war between the parents and administrators at a fictional suburban public school. It’s funny. It’s not so funny. You could think of this novel as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest for public education. It could also double as a textbook on how NOT to conduct parent-administrator relationships. Call it my revenge for being forced to read Lord of the Flies in high school.

I’m an Atlanta writer, and while it may seem that the plot has been ripped from today’s headlines—PTA embezzlement, testing scandals, diversity/immigration issues, zero tolerance fails, and culture wars—this book has been many years in the making. The novel was a smash at the Decatur Book Festival over the Labor Day weekend. Parents and teachers weren’t just buying the book—they were grabbing flyers to stuff in mailboxes at school this morning. That’s why I figured you might want to see for yourself what the fuss is about. Once you do, I think you’ll want to let people know about this unique book.

I’ve attached a news release and author Q&A to this message. You can also check them out on the book’s website:http://chaingangelementary.com/?p=719 (Q&A) or http://chaingangelementary.com/?p=744 (news release). You can also download sample chapters, and while you’re there, read the Chain Gang Blog, my Darwin Awardish take on crime, education, public policy, and whatever else I find weirdly fascinating. You can also visit Chain Gang Elementary on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chain-Gang-Elementary/268343289846138?v=wall.

Please let me know if you’d like a review copy. By the way, if you have an e-Reader, I can give you a coupon code to get one for free at Smashwords.com I look forward to hearing from you.
