Promise Academies to be slashed | Philadelphia Public School Notebook

Promise Academies to be slashed

In order to help balance next year's budget, the School District has proposed drastically scaling back Promise Academies -- provoking at outburst of opposition at Wednesday morning's special School Reform Commission meeting.

Initial plans had called for 11 new Promise Academies this year. Now, there will only be three, all high schools: Martin Luther King, Germantown and West Philadelphia.
