image from static0.channels.comForget about the Gates Foundation or Eli Broad "taking over" education and imposing their nefarious (or simply wrong) agendas on American schools. The for-profit University of Phoenix might have them all beat. Bypassing messy programs and uncertain services, the U of Phoenix has gone straight for the nation's hearts and minds (or at least their eyeballs). And bigtime media outlets seem to be happy to take the money and lend them credibility. They were the lead sponsors for NBC's "Education Nation" (year two starts in Chicago this week). They sponsor GOOD's education page. They've got a three-page insert in the New Yorker (lamented by LF yesterday). I don't even think they bothered to start a foundation to make it look pretty.
