President Obama Reconfirms to DREAM Act, Rallies Held for May Day - Hispanically Speaking News

While President Obama Reconfirms Commitment to DREAM Act, Pro-Immigration Rallies Held for May Day

This May 1st, known as the day synonymous with International Workers’ Day or Labor Day, many American cities are holding immigrant right rallies and marches.

In Los Angeles there will be a march kicking of at 10:00 am (PST), in Chicago an immigration rights rally will start in the Hispanic community of Pilsen while in Wisconsin the AFL-CIO is joining their immigrant-rights march in downtown Milwaukee.

These pro-immigrant rallies come on the heels of President Obama’s DREAM Act comments at Miami Dade College. There he reaffirmed his commitment to the DREAM ACT and said he will continue fighting to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Speaking at the Friday commencement to 3,000 graduates, mostly minorities, he did face protesters urging him to sign an executive order to stop deportations. In closing he noted:
