Ex-P&G exec could guide school reform

October 30, 2010

A recent report detailed in The Enquirer included the finding that Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky ranks 10th among 12 similar metro areas in educational achievement, with fewer than 30 percent of adults here holding a bachelor's degree.

It was a surprising and disturbing finding in a time when education, more than ever, is the key to better jobs and higher income.

So what to do about it? The report stopped short of recommending solutions, but we don't need to look very far for expert help and the passion to get something done.

Let me recommend Bob Wehling.

Bob is the retired chief marketing officer for Procter & Gamble who has become a nationally known expert on improving education. He still makes his home here, on a farm in Augusta, Ky., and is as outspoken as ever about what needs to be done.

Anyone interested in what he has to say should read his book, "Building a 21st Century Education System." It can be downloaded free at www.nctaf.org.
