Arkansas School Board Member Resigns Over Anti-Gay Comments

For the past three days, all eyes have been on the Midland School District in Arkansas, where one school board members, Clint McCance, posted hostile messages for LGBT students on his personal Facebook page. The aggressive messages — which were in response to the October 20 "Spirit Day, where students around the country wore purple to commemorate those who have been victims of anti-gay bullying — suggested that gay students should all commit suicide, and that all gay people should get AIDS and die.

These statements would have been inappropriate for anyone, let alone an educator who helps shape school policy in his district.
