Hinojosa embraces Bush Institute plan to hire outsiders as Dallas ISD principals 12:56 PM CT

Dallas schools superintendent Michael Hinojosa embraced the George W. Bush Institute's new plan to recruit public school principals from outside traditional teacher ranks, saying today, "We need to get leaders from wherever we can."

The initiative was formally rolled out atNorth Dallas High School, which is north of downtown in the Dallas school district.

Hinojosa, who joined former First Lady Laura Bush and other dignitaries at the ceremony, did not elaborate on how the newly minted principals would be integrated into local campuses.

Hinojosa left after the ceremony and was not immediately available for questions. He expects to learn later today whether the Las Vegas school board wants to hire him as
