The deadline for states applying for RTT funds to adopt common core standards and provide related supplemental information to be considered in the RTT process is Aug 2^nd.

I was assuming that the Dept of Education would not release the RTT results until after that deadline. But, today the Sec released the list of 19 finalists for round II. Did the Sec. release the list of Race to the Top finalists too early? Will this end up impacting the many states who applied for RTT, but have not yet adopted the common core standards. A quick look at the states in RTT that had not yet adopted common core – Alabama, California, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, and Washington.
