Proposition 100 will saddle us with debt

As I look to a future where Proposition 100 has been passed, I see a troubling picture of increased challenges for ordinary Arizonans already beaten and battered by the worst recession in 75 years.
First, let me debunk the rhetoric of those who think that increasing taxes and maintaining the size and scope of our state government will improve our society.

If increasing taxes and growing the size of government was beneficial, Arizona would be the financial envy of the world. Instead, Arizona's government nearly doubled this decade while our economy is one of the five worst in the country.
From 1912 until 1997, general-fund expenditures grew from zero to $6.086 billion. Ten years later, they skyrocketed to $13.961 billion. The meteoric rise in Arizona expenditures under Gov. Janet Napolitano was especially onerous, with a $6 billion increase in just six
