The Employment Development Dept announced over $4 million in stimulus funds for grants to train about 725 people for in-demand occupations. In Northern CA, the Elk Grove Unified School District and North Central Counties Consortium in Sutter County will receive nearly $1 million each to provide training in areas such as network administration, computer support, alternative fuel mechanics, paramedics, home health aides, pharmacy technology, medical coding and dental assisting. The projects will focus on training and job placement for low-income, unemployed, dislocated workers and under-skilled adults facing challenges in regaining employment.
