Where to find a teaching job: How about Unalaska, Alaska?

Unalaska.jpgAmong the many interesting and upbeat tidbits I ran across during an an otherwise disheartening daylong job fair at which thousands of aspiring teachers did not get job offers was this:

The school district of Unalaska, Alaska, is hiring. And Superintendent John Conwell was willing to travel 2,000 miles to Portland, Oregon, in hopes of finding a top-notch high school math and science teacher. (He's also fishing for a health and PE teacher, an elementary principal and, like most school districts a lot closer to Portland, a special ed teacher.)
