A former student who appeared this year on movie screens spoke Monday in Linda — and so did the unmasked school mascot for Cedar Lane Elementary as state testing starts in the Yuba-Sutter area.
"Get a lot of sleep," Keegan Alan, 17, urged more than 500 students at Cedar Lane. "Have a good breakfast."
Alan, featured in a Sony promotion shown in movie theaters, remembered his first grade teacher Craig Jones and praised Cedar Lane students for their previous scores on the state Standardized Testing and Reporting exams.
STAR testing begins today at the Linda school and others in the Marysville Joint Unified School District.
