Loveland High School defends its mascot, history in face of state bill, 1/23/2010 - Reporter-Herald, Loveland, Colo.:

"Once again, the use of Indian mascots by Colorado high schools has come under fire.

And once again, officials at Loveland High School say they’ll do whatever it takes to keep Indians as part of the school’s tradition.

On Thursday, state Sen. Suzanne Williams introduced Senate Bill 107, which would require each public high school (denoted as grades nine-12 in the bill) of a district or charter high schools that use an American Indian mascot to either stop using it or gain approval of its use from the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs."
