Students gather technology, education and business thought leaders to transform this school year and beyond
NEW YORK, NY— This week, Student Voice will partner with Dell, Microsoft, the GENYOUth Foundation and other organizations to advance the education conversation and add a new perspective to the schooling community with its second annual Student Voice Live! summit in New York City.

WHAT:
Approximately 300 participants, including students, teachers, actors, authors, business executives and policy makers will gather to discuss and attempt to solve some of educations most pressing issues, including bridging the digital divide, diversity in the STEM field, education and entrepreneurship, higher education barriers, the state of student rights, learning in untraditional spaces and more.
WHO:
Student Voice Live! will be emceed by Hunger Games actress Jacqueline Emerson and 14-year-old comedian Ruby Karp with keynote addresses and think tanks led by the following special guests::
  • Student, inventor, scientist and cancer researcher, Jack Andraka
  • Author of the New York Times best-selling novel, “The Smartest Kids in the World,” Amanda Ripley
  • The Director of the Office of Education Technology at the U.S. Department of Education, Richard Culatta
  • TV personality, former VP of Fox Business and CEO of GENYOUth, Alexis Glick
  • President and CEO of Youth Service America, Steve Culburtson
  • Founder of Think of Us and foster child advocate, Sixto Cancel
Dell’s Youth Innovation Advisors, 12 Under 22, young global influencers will also be on-hand to lead think tanks, redesigns and problem-solution discussions with participants.

WHY:
Student Voice Live! was inspired by the lack of student voices in education and the apparent gap between students, teachers and education executives around the world. Research shows that only 47 percent of students believe they have a voice in decision making and this dips to as low as 36 percent in the 12th grade. Student Voice strives to enhance the overall effectiveness of education byensuring students are regarded as equal stakeholders in their education experience. For the second time in history, Student Voice Live!will give students a platform on which their voices can be heard.
