CESAR CHAVEZ MARCH - SCUSD COMMUNITY MEMBERS MARCHING FOR “PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR ALL”, ESPECIALLY IN OUR SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS TARGETED FOR CLOSING

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING THE CONTIGENT OF SCUSD COMMUNITY MEMBERS MARCHING FOR “PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR ALL”, EXPECIALLY IN OUR SMALL NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS TARGETED FOR CLOSING NEXT YEAR OR IN A FOLLOWING YEAR:

Please join us in the effort to Reclaim, Restore and Renew public education. It is time to Rise up and demand the Rescission of the vote to close seven neighborhood schools.

On the occasion of his recent birthday anniversary, Cesar Chavez's son-in-law and current UFW president shared: "... To give true meaning to his life and work, we — you and I — must be directly involved in the issues that affect us and give life to his values by being of service to others." http://www.ufw.org/

In Sacramento, neighborhood communities are challenging SCUSD’s unequal treatment of their schools, the unsafe proposals to displace over 2,200 students this year and more in the coming years and the ongoing violations of the civil rights of parents and children to a quality education in a neighborhood public school.

Our neighborhoods deserve better than a 4-3 vote to close only Hispanic plurality schools.

The board majority must show our children the strength of character to rescind their vote. A thoughtful and deliberate process is needed to answer the many questions that have been asked by those who will be impacted. A new process is needed to intelligently design a district that truly is sized for all our children.
