LAUSD will refile every case of teacher misconduct over the last three years with the state credentialing commission to ensure that nobody slipped through the cracks, Superintendent John Deasy said Wednesday.

During a 45-minute interview on KPCC-FM, Deasy said he wanted to be sure there was no lapse like the one that occurred when Los Angeles Unified waited a year before notifying the state that it was firing Mark Berndt, the Miramonte Elementary teacher suspected of committing lewd acts with students.

"I ordered my staff to re-file every single report over the last three academic years and this year, just as an abundance of caution, and to be quite clear that every case was sent to the commission," Deasy said.
